UAS Egan Classroom Wing Addition

Auke Lake Campus of the University of Alaska Southeast

Construction of this 26,000 square foot addition to the William Egan Library on the Auke Lake Campus of the University of Alaska Southeast was completed in 2002 at a cost of $6,500,000. Originally designed in 1992, the project lay dormant for nearly a decade pending construction funding. The facility continues the design aesthetic of the existing library with soaring columns, exposed wood beams, wood walls and skylights to allow natural light into the building core. Containing sixteen classrooms, a 150 seat lecture hall, coffee bar, and ancillary spaces, the facility is the one of the most significant additions to the campus in many years.
